CHAPTER 9 (NOVEL)

Hi everyone!
SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY! I haven't been able to post anything because I have had no time, seriously, the day needs more hours... so I have given the blog a new design and here is a chapter which is a little bit longer than usual, and another "bit" :) I'll try to post another chapter as soon as possible!
For thos of you who don't know how to see other chapters, some of you have asked a few times:
At the bar on the RIGHT to have POPULAR ENTRIES (entradas populares), and underneath another section, where you'll see the names of the MONTHS. Because I started this in 2011, there's also TWO YEARS. THE EARLIER IT'S WRITTEN, THE OLDER IT IS, so here you can take a look at all of them. Remember there are some "bits" which DO NOT FORM PART OF THE NOVEL. All the Chapters are titled like this: "CHAPTER... (NOVEL)" I hope this helps and you don't get confused anymore! hahaha
And now, If you don't remember what happened in the last chapters: Miranda receives a message from that strange guy on Facebook, to add her as a friend, but it seems like she's forgotten and does not say anything to anyone. Next day, she finds Alex at high school and walks with him to class. He is about to tell her something important when she hears some steps...

 Mary.
I quickly pulled apart from Alex, even though I desperately wanted to stay right next to him.
Why did destiny let me touch what's unreachable and then took it away the next second?
Why, right now, did his EX had to find us?

She stared at us for a second, with not a very friendly look, specially at me. Her blond hair had golden reflections, her blue eyes looked as if made of glass. She wore a pink extra-short skirt... what a surprise, and a fuchsia blouse like the ones Barbie wore.
“Oh, am I interrupting something?” she said. “Alex, don't you have to go to class? Come on, I'll go with you to the physics lab.”
Damn. I would never be able to compete with her. She looked like a mermaid, and I, well, I just looked normal.

“Leave me alone, Mary. If you don't mind I'm gonna walk Miranda to her maths class. Bye.” he answered, to my surprise.
He grabbed my back and almost pushed me with his hand until Mary could no longer see us, although I knew she would have observed us for a few more seconds.
Before we disappeared she had thrown one of those looks, that would have destroyed me if it was a weapon.
“She doesn't leave me alone.” complained Alex.
“Mary?”
“Yeah. I think that she hasn't realised yet that there's nothing at all between us, especially when she sees me with another girl.” he answered.
“Oh.” I said.
We stopped when we reached the room. Once more, he stared at me. I leaned on the wall, observing how the corridor shone under the caramel sunlight.
He put his left arm on the wall next to my face. He smiled.

“I'm sorry for Mary interrupting us before.” he said.
His green eyes shone like never before, illuminated by the Sun. He stared deep into my eyes. I had never felt anything like what I felt right now.
In that moment, I only saw him, I only saw his perfect smile, his eyes, his skin, his body.
“What did she interrumpt?”
“I wanted to say something to you.” he said.
I couldn't response to what he had said, I was too occupied admiring the boy I had in front of me.
“Are you free this Saturday? I had thought that maybe we could go bowling. What do you say?”
I was so baffled... ALEX asking me to go on a date with him. Okay, I was definitely dreaming. I pinched my hand so he wouldn't see, to find out if it was real or just a product of my imagination. I hurt myself, so... it WAS happening.

“So?”
I wanted to say yes, to SCREAM out loud, jumping in excitement and then faint and fall on his arms so he could protect me, and then wake up and find his lips... Okay, maybe I'm a bit exaggerated, but that's what I felt.
“I think it's perfect, but I'm not really good at bowling, so.. don't laugh at me if I look silly... Watching me play is awful, seriously. I suppose you'll be really good.” I said, trying to make my voice sound as normal as possible.
“We can go anywhere... wherever you want.”
“No, no. Bowling is fine, you can teach me. Maybe I ca even get better...”
“Well, okay. At 5:30?”
“Course, I'll be there.”
The bell rang.
“See you then,” he said. Then he kissed my cheek for a long second.

Maybe that kiss did not mean much, but it made me burn inside, and I almost fell because I lost the equilibrium. Better he wasn't there to see it.
I entered the class, and by the way Carol and Lucy looked at me, I deduced I still looked baffled and out of place.
“What were you and Alex talking out there?” aked Lucy, anxious for a response.
Carol, hit her elbow like saying: “be more subtile!”, but that wouldn't answer her question and would not change her need for gossip.
“What? Can't I ak my best friend what's going on with her guy?” she said.
“I don't mind, Lucy, of course you can ask. She is SO desperate to know, Carol, that she can't control herself.” I laughed.
“Oh come on, are you telling us or what? I wanna know too! Haha” said Carol.
“Okay... Guess who has a date this Saturday!”
Both looked at me for a second, eyes wide open, and then histeria came. We started jumping and screaming like little girls, we would have broken a glass if there was one in the room. It was strange that window didn't break.

Suddenly a voice stopped us.
“Why are you so happy girls? Are you so enthuthiastic because we're starting the class? If you don't sit down right now, surpise test, let's see if that makes you happy too.” said the French teacher.
He had just come in, and everyone had their books ready on the table, sitting down, and silent. I blushed and everyone saw how ashamed I felt for our pathetics jumps.
“Yes, Monsieur, sorry.” I said.

The three of us walked to our place at the back row.
“He's such a pain in the ass...” said Carol.
“You're telling me? Uff...”
We sat down. The class was totally silent. Strange.
It was probably because the French teahcer punished every single erson who produced a noise which was not a pen writing or the sound of our breathe. Lucy had been punished quite a lot of times... she was really chatty.
“Miranda, you gotta tell me EVERYTHING. I mean EVERYTHING. Every single detail.” whispered Lucy. Did she want an immediate detention?
“Not now Lucy, you know how this one is, he gives a detention for anything.”
“Come on Miranda, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase.... You left me intrigued now...”

“Ladies, please.” said the teacher. I hadn't noticed how close he was. “Private conversations AFTER class, at least after MY class. If you talk again, you'd be an hour detention this afternoon.”
He left his place and continued his class.

“For god's sake, he's like a fucking radar.” said Carol.
“Yeah, he's..”
“Enough, ladies, Lucinda and Caroline, you both have a detention after school.”
Great. Carol and Lucy on detention... At least I wasn't.
Then the bell rang. Eveybody gathered their books so quickly... and ran out of class.”
“Don't run!” the teacher shouted from the room.
Didn't he ever get tired?

We were out of class and Lucy and Carol threw out questions, and more questions... I answered all of them, fo course. With every single detail, because they were capable of gagging me to get all the information out.

It was free period. Carol went to buy some sweets and Lucy went with her. I didn't want to keep on with the questionnaire, so I went to the toiette.
The building was almost empty. They'd all be at the out on the Sun, I supposed.
I still didn't believe that Alex wanted me, ME, for a bowling session. My god, it was impossible.
I entered the bathroom, there was no one there. I got inside one. When I was inside, I heard some steps and whispering...

Sometimes things are not what they seem...

People are like books. Maybe the front cover gives you an idea, and a brief summary gives you hints on the story which can make it seem completely amazing. But then everything can change. The first impression is not always the right one, and you could have made a very big mistake.
People surprise you... those you barely know are the ones who can lie to you so easily. You may think you know someone because of the idea you have of him/her. But then eveything can turn around, that person you thought was good, suddenly becomes a stranger.  That's when things start not fitting the puzzle.
A part of you will always think of that person that your mind created: perfect. And the other part will battle, making you bump into reality. Sometimes, the truth hurts, but in the end, it is the truth. That's how things are.
The only thing we can do is turn silent and put up with it.

-Vaya, espero no interrumpir nada. ¿Álex, tú no tienes clase? Vamos, te acompaño a física.- dijo.
Maldita sea.

Adiós.- respondió éste a mi sorpresa.

Me sonrió.

¿Qué te parece?- me dijo.
Estaba alucinando. Me hice daño, o sea, estaba pasando.

-¿Y bien?

-Venga, Miranda, porfaa... Que ahora me has dejado intrigada.

Yo respondí a todas, claro.

Carol iba a comprarse algunas golosinas e Inés iba a acompañarla.
